Get it? Glow + Home = Glowme? The breathtaking hilarity of the former comment should alert you to the fact that the rest of this blog will be rather silly... props if you keep reading.
So lets get started, shall we? First off - what actually IS GLOW? GLOW, which stands for Gay, Lesbian, or Whatever is "a community of students, allied with faculty and staff, who identify as or who support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students on the Lawrence University campus. We are a visible and supportive community, an outlet for social interaction, and an educational resource for the Lawrence University campus. Our mission is to encourage acceptance of, diversity among, and respect for all members of the Lawrence University student body, regardless of sexual orientation or gender" (thank you, GLOW homepage, for the well-worded description!) One thing I'd like to add is that GLOW is not solely for the LGBT part of the Queer Community - we welcome everyone - lesbian, bi, gay, transgender, asexual, pansexual, polyamorous, allies, etc. Long story short, you should come hang out with us!
This term, GLOW meets on Monday nights, though that is subject to change to a time that better suits everyone's busy schedules. Lawrentians are generally quite busy, and coming to GLOW gives us all a nice break to sit back, talk about issues pertinent to our community, and support each other. GLOW also does volunteer work (through Lawrence's Volunteer Center, with Harmony Cafe, and on our own), hosts fun events/parties that are open to the entire campus, and has a house which is a designated safe space for any and all students.
Basically, GLOW is the place to be. Check back in frequently for updates from GLOW-flakes about various on and off campus opportunities (especially coverage of The Big Gay Conference!)
